How It Works: The 3-Stage Dewatering Process
Our Multi-Disc Screw Press utilizes a unique structure of fixed and moving rings to filter sludge. The process is divided into three critical stages to ensure maximum solid-liquid separation.
1. Thickening Zone (Flocculation & Gravity Filtration)
Sludge is first mixed with polymer in the flocculation tank to form “flocs.” As the sludge enters the initial part of the screw cylinder, gravity filtration takes place. The gaps between the moving and fixed rings allow the free water to drain out rapidly while the solids are moved forward by the screw shaft.
2. Dewatering Zone (Compression & Pressing)
As the sludge moves toward the discharge end, the pitch of the screw becomes narrower and the space inside the cylinder decreases. This creates high internal pressure. The moving rings continuously clean the gaps, preventing the mesh from clogging, while the pressure forces the remaining water out of the sludge.
3. Discharge Zone (Sludge Cake Formation)
In the final stage, the sludge is compressed into a “sludge cake” with low moisture content. The pressure is regulated by the back-pressure plate at the outlet. The result is a dry, manageable cake ready for transport or disposal, significantly reducing your waste volume.
